Hygienic Golden Touch Cleaners was founded in 1944 by Paul Golden at it's original location of 515 Washburn, in the Potwin area. With the birth of the store came his five point plan for success.

Paul strongly believed that one of the keys of his success was that each customer be known personally and greeted by name. He encouraged his customers to thoroughly discus any concerns with his employees. He was adamant that each customer needed to know that their business was important and that their clothes would be treated with great care.

His second point in his plan for success was quality. He wanted to ensure that customers knew they were not just getting lip service, but that each garment was cared for and each customer was given the highest level of service possible. The Golden family to this day personally checks the work and makes sure to adhere to this standard of excellence.

The third point in this plan was centered around the Golden family itself. From the beginning, they have always considered themselves a part of the team along with 25 other employees. By setting the standards and work ethic themselves, the employees are motivated and know that only hard work and the highest level of standards will keep customers returning to their store.

The fourth point of the plan was to treat each employee as part of the family. Above average pay and an excellent work environment are just a part of this plan. All employees opinions matter, and they know it. Most of the staff today has been there for 10-20 years.

The final point was convenience for the customer. What can be more convenient than having all of your cleaning picked up, cleaned properly and delivered to your home or office up to two times a week?

Today, 61 years later and into the 4th generation, Hygienic Dry Cleaners has expanded many times in Topeka and even opened in Lawrence in 1990. Paul Golden would be proud of the way his plan is still being continued.
